At the edge of the metropolitan transport system, Warburton sits surrounded by tall forests full of recreational opportunities accessible with a Myki card. With the many of the roads closed over winter due to mud and possible snow there is a window to explore the various tracks peacefully on foot.
Numerous sheltered tracks and walking trails offer loops through the rainforests but maintenance has been limited so climbing over fallen trees is frequent. Weather will be cold and wet but there are shelters periodically to relax under. Daily distances of up to 25km and 900m of elevation gain pushes this trip to the energetic side of the sport requiring early starts and consistent effort all day.
Transport is by Bus from the end of the Lilydale Train Line all covered with Myki. Previous overnight walking experience required.
