Come and join us for a day of adventure and bouldering down on the Mornington Peninsula!

Fair warning: A day of high octane climbing this is not.

While Fingal beach won’t be featured in a climbing guide any time soon, its cool little spot in its own right. Nestled down on the coast of the Mornington Peninsula National Park, these little Limestone boulders, Just a 30 minute walk from the Fingal picnic area carpark, are just about the only stable rock to be found south of the city.

I’ve bouldered here a couple times, and even put up a few climbs, and when the conditions are right, its a really pretty gorgeous place to climb. This is far from a world class spot, you’re here for the pretty setting, a day out of the city and some novelty climbing (and maybe even spotting one of the hundreds of kangaroos that inhabit the national park).

Heres a link to the crag website if you wanna check it out: https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/australia/victoria/melbourne/area/6067944906

You can only climb Fingal Beach at low tide. So everything will be planned around tide times. The date and time of this trip may change depending on these tide times. Trip numbers are also entirely dependent on cars and number of leaders. I will be able to pick up about 4/5 people from Frankston Station. Any additional people will either need to organise their own transport or rely on the generosity of people volunteering their cars for the journey.

The plan:

- We will be meeting up at Fingal Picnic Area on the Mornington Peninsula at (time TBC).

- After a 30 minute walk in to the beach, we’ll be turning left and hugging the cliffs for about 200m until we arrive at the crag.

- From there, we should have a decent couple of hours of climbing before the tide comes back in.

Swimming is NOT a component of this trip, the section of beach is notorious for having rips and very strong currents (It’s also winter, so it will be freezing anyways).

There are also no bins or facilities down on the beach, and it is a national park so TAKE ALL RUBBISH WITH YOU - It’s a gorgeous beach, let’s leave it that way.

The date and time of the trip may be subject to change, depending on tide times.
