Requirements: Previous bushwalking experience, plus the ability to cover 20+ km in a day on track.

Off into the hill to find the source of the Murray river. Located under the slopes of a mountain called solely "The Pilot" yet conveniently close to management trails through the steep wilderness the springs at the head of Australia's largest river are a novel destination. From the top of the remote Pilot is a spectacular panorama unrivalled across the Australian Alps, two nights spent out in the wilderness away from motorised transport we'll have the opportunity to enjoy some quiet and the great stargazing (and probably annoy some Brumbies).

Departing on Friday after lunch for the long drive to the trackhead, returning into town late on the Sunday night. Exact routes and distances are dependent on the party but expect between 15-20km on track and 5+ km off it on the long days.
