Introducing the wise and noble Giuliana!

Our friendly bird expert will be joining us through the damp, lush ferns and steep slopes of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. We will spend a few hours hiking, learning about our native fauna and standing very still to (maybe) spot a Lyrebird or Eastern Whipbird.

Very grateful to Giuliana for volunteering her time, knowledge and experience:)

This will be a human powered trip, we will be travelling in and out via PTV from the Upper Ferntree Gully train station.

General plan:

  • Meet at Crooms, 9:40am
  • Tram --> 9:47-9:55, or 9:58 - 10:06 (but you'll have to really run to catch the train)
  • Train from Melbourne C to Upper Ferntree Gully, 10:09 - 11:18am, please notify me via messenger if you are meeting us on the train.
  • Maybe stop by a bakery or café, if not bring your lunch (hehe making the most of the human powered grant)
  • Walk and look at tiny Dinosaurs till 3pm
  • Walk back to the station, 3:10pm
  • Arrive at flinders st station, 4:07pm

Given the:

  • Time of the year, bring wet and cold weather gear.
  • Terrain, bring stable footwear.
  • Possibility of leeches, bring long pants, collared shirt and easily accessible hand sanitiser.

Also if you have binoculars or a camera please bring that along too!

No flash, obviously.

The date of this trip has been changed from the 16th to the 24th of August due to weather conditions.   Trip meeting will still be held on the 12th.
