One of my favourite bird species is the hooded plover (have you ever seen them? they're adorable). If you're like me and want to help give them a better chance at survival, come join a weeding event! This is run externally by Conservation Volunteers Australia. All tools are provided, along with morning tea. The event starts at 10:55 and lasts for about an hour and a half, and is held at Edwards Point on the Bellarine Peninsula. I could be convinced for a pub/bakery lunch along the way back as well to make it a longer trip. We'll probably leave crooms around 8:30 as I reckon it'll take about 2 hours to get there with traffic.
I've set the limit to 4 other people as I can only fit 4 others in my car, if there's another driver this number could be increased. You will have to sign up on the CVA website to get a spot though, and there is currently only 10 more spots on the website so get in quick! If there's no more availability on the website you unfortunately won't be able to come.
Here's the sign up link: https://volunteerportal.conservationvolunteers.com.au/s/make-booking. You will have to search for the trip, it's under the title Restoring the Wetlands of Port Phillip Bay (I recommend filtering the location to VIC to make it easier), press the events+ button but please choose the event in November not the one in October haha. Get keen for some weeding!!
