Kayaking Leader starter course - great chance for anyone wanting to improve their skills or to learn how to start helping with leading on kayaking trips.
This is the first of our internal kayaking training courses as outlined in the draft 'Little book of paddling'. The intent of this course is to train attendees to be able to organise and assist leading on flatwater kayaking trips, and to teach basic kayaking skills as part of an intro to kayaking trip.
We will cover a number of topics including basic kayaking skills such as understanding the equipment, wet exits, paddle strokes and how to teach them, and some simple self and assisted recovery techniques, and some rescue techniques.
Destination: Lysterfield Park Lake
*Trip is dependent on weather conditions and instructor availability*
Spaces will be limited based on the ability to transport kayaks there. If you have roof racks/tow bar or are willing to use soft racks to help transport kayaks, please put that in the trip comments.
