Do you want to go up and down some big hills on a bike?

I do.

This human powered trip run by two of your former conservation officers will entail (at least one, probably more) trips to bakeries.

Do you need any more convincing?

Surface:

The route is almost all on gravel, of varying quality.  Tyres of at least 35mm are suitable.

23% paved. 77% gravel.

Itinerary:

Saturday:

Please be at southern cross by 9am.   Depart from southern cross station at 9:16. if you miss the train, tough luck.

Start riding by 10:45.

Yea bakery. 

Approx. four hours of riding. 1,100 meters of elevation. 73.5km.

Camp at ferns creek.

Sunday:

get moving by 9.

no bakery.

Approx 7 hrs of riding. 1,300 meters. 66.2km.

Hurstbridge train, we get there when we get there.

back to the city.

Participant Requirements:

Usable Myki.

Have a roadworthy bike with 35mm tyres (it's possible to hire one from a shop if you don’t have one)

Be a competent bike rider

Be able to pack all your overnight gear onto your bike (you can hire some MUMC bikepacking gear to help you)

Know how to replace a punctured tube (can learn how to do this from a youtube video)

Have a good understanding of how to navigate using GPS.
