Hey everyone! It's the Aussie Bird Count from 20/10 to 26/10, and unfortunately I don't have the time for a proper day bushwalk right now so I thought it would be great to go on a wander around the Unimelb campus, starting from the clubrooms to see what birds we find!
There's no limit on the number of people as this is a social event, so there will also be no meeting. However, I'll be at crooms for the Tuesday meeting the night before (21/10) so can answer any questions. We'll start at 9:30am from the clubrooms, walk to South Lawn, document the birds we find for about 20 mins then have a coffee and a chat at carte crepes (not compulsory but I will be doing this!) Wear some sneakers as there will be a tiny bit of walking involved but very very minimal I promise.
You'll need to register here before the event: https://aussiebirdcount.org.au/ The national bird count is run by Birdlife Australia, and is a super helpful way for ecologists to document what birds are in different areas around Australia to help restore habitats and protect endangered bird species! If you're not free during this event time, I recommend you spend 20 mins some other time next week checking for birds in your area :)
