The northern section of Wilson's Promontory is known for its extreme remoteness and ruggedness. After bushfires some years ago, the tracks in this area have remained unmaintained but are nevertheless open to experienced hikers, offering an extremely remote and challenging walk. The eastern coast to Johnny Suey campground is the easiest section of the circuit, comprising mainly gravel walking with a view of the whole northern prom, and finishing with a stint of overgrown track that leads to what is, by all accounts, one of the most stunning coastal campsites in Victoria. If the weather permits, I'm hoping we can squeeze in some swimming at the various beaches. Between the distances and track conditions, this will definitely not be an easy walk, and as a result, it is marked as an advanced. You will need to be confident in both your previous bushwalking experience and your fitness to attend this trip.
Extra Considerations
Due to the lack of water availability along the route, participants will need to be able to carry enough water (4-6L) for 2 days of walking in hot weather with little shade. This walk also includes an estuary crossing, as well as some overgrown, unmaintained tracks. Please consider if you are comfortable with these elements before committing to the trip.
