Wild Mountains of the South East

Some wild adventure in untracked national park camping on the banks of a slow river, only problem is getting there. Out and back over the sub alpine escarpments through rainforest and open woodland the whole trip fits within the Nungatta 8723-1S sheet.

Friday night is camping by the car at the animal reserve ready for an early start on Saturday. Each days walking is 12km passing up through escarpments/cliffs onto the broad plateau and then descending the rocky ridges down to the river, harder on the way back with 600m of towering elevation gain almost completely at the start.

6+ hour drive each way for expected transport costs of $100 per person. Return very late on Sunday night after returning to the car in the late afternoon. Prior off track walking experience required for all participants.
