Hi all! Get pumped for the start of the 2026 rogaining season! This is the Old Racecourse Spring Meet 2x6 hr. rogaine, the first of the year in the bush, located in Hepburn Springs (just north of Daylesford). The format for this rogaine is 2 x separate 6 hour events, held on Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th of April. The events will start at 10am both days. This rogaine is a great way to get into the sport without needing to stay overnight or navigate in the dark! On the Sunday of the event, the VRA are kindly offering navigation coaching in conjunction with the rogaine. They plan on matching each trainee team with an experienced rogaine coach. If you are new to bush navigation or have done a few events and want to hone your skills, please talk to me and I will set this up!
Gear can be hired from the club, including gear for the rogaine itself and gear for camping. If you have team members in mind or are looking for people to team up with, come along to the meeting where we will be organising teams of 2 to 5 people. Everyone is welcome to join, whether it is your first time or your 100th!
The rogaine is organised by the Victorian Rogaining Association, more info about the event can be found here: https://rogainevic.org.au/april-2x6hr-rogaine-11-12-april-2026/
We also have a chat on the Oxo Clubrooms just for rogaining (yay!!) so you can always put any questions you have in there if you can’t find the information on the VRA page! Please also consider volunteering. It helps out the VRA who are volunteers just like us and you get free entry into a future rogaine of your choice.
Note: trip meeting is 2 Tuesdays before the event. This is to make sure teams are registered before the cut-off date, and to organise transport.
What is Rogaining?
Rogaining is the sport of distance cross-country navigation in which teams of two to five members visit as many checkpoints as possible in the specified time. It’s kind of a mix between trail running/hiking and orienteering (sort of like a scavenger hunt in the bush!). At our meeting I will explain the rules in more detail, and if you want to read more, see here: https://rogainevic.org.au/about/
