Semester 1 Pubgaine!!!

Dearest competitors,

Welcome to the Semester 1 Pubgaine!

On Thursday the 16th April, you and your teammates will be pitted against other members of the MUMC comunity in an attempt to be crowned a Pubgaine winner, and take home the entire pot. Do you have what it takes?

If anyone is unsure what a pubgaine is: it’s a mixture between a pub-crawl and rogaine, making for a fun night.  And this year, yours hosts are hoping for a spectacle.

Teams of 3-5 race around to collect points with the aid of map and compass.

The rules are simple. Each team is given a map with a list of locations and challenges corresponding to those locations. These locations are worth a different number of points depending on the difficulty of reaching the location and of the challenge.

You are allowed to move by foot or public transport only: that means no cars, taxi’s, bicycles or scooters. The team must remain together at all times, no splitting off to try and get more done! No googling either. Cheaters will be punished!

The PUBGAINE! itself will begin at 6pm from THE CLUBROOMS. Maps and challenges will be handed out at 5:45.

After completing as many challenges as you can (or want to do), all teams must be back at THE CLYDE no later than 9pm, and a 15-point penalty per minute late will given (this will be strictly enforced). We will then tally the scores, hang out and laugh at the photos. If you can't make it for the 6pm start, just let us know and you can join your team out on the course as long as you've registered.

The entry fee will be $5 per person, this will go into a pot and split among the winning team at the end.

There will be no trip meeting, if you’ve got your team shoot me an email with everyone’s names: with Pubgaine in the subject line! If u don’t have a team and want to be put into one also send an email.

On the night, bonus points will be awarded on the following basis:

1. Each team member carrying a compass, worn around their neck (+20 points)

2. Each team member wearing a head torch, you may turn it off when entering a pub (+20 points)

3. Each team member wearing a whistle (+20 points)

4. Every member of a team drinks a beverage (non alcoholic is completely fine) at a pub – proven with a photo of the receipt (double points for that pub)

5. Teams with at least 1 non-club member or member where this is their first club trip (+50 points for the first, and +30 points for the 2nd)

6. Best whole team themed outfit (+30 points). This semesters theme is MOST IMPRACTICAL FOR A ROGAINE! We will judge this at the start line, but will be very dissapointed if you change your outfit on the course.

For the challenges where the whole team has to participate, if you genuinely don't want to/ have a reason not to do it, we will be reasonable and probably give your team points. We want people to compete, but in a fun way, not an uncomfortable one.a
