Requirements: With a more flexible route we've room for fit people of all experiences prepared for two long days of walking in hot conditions followed by cold nights. Comfortable footwear and appropriate clothing being the essential requirements.

Off into the hill to find the source of the Murray river. Located under the slopes of a mountain called solely "The Pilot" yet conveniently close to management trails through the steep wilderness the springs at the head of Australia's largest river are a novel destination.

From the top of the remote Pilot is a spectacular panorama unrivalled across the Australian Alps, two nights spent out in the wilderness away from motorised transport we'll have the opportunity to enjoy some quiet and the great stargazing (and probably annoy some Brumbies).

Departing on Friday after lunch for the long drive to the trackhead, returning into town late on the Sunday night. Exact routes and distances are dependent on the party but expect a minimum of 15km on track and 5+ km off it for the side trips to the summit and springs amongst the alpine grass.
