Hey all!
It’s about that time again to head out for a top rope session! This time we’ll be heading up to the You Yangs, so get ready to do a lot of technical slab climbing fun (the best kind of climbing)! :)

We’ll be trying to leave the clubrooms pretty early, at around 7:30am on the Saturday morning, to get in as much climbing as we can (and give the leaders a bit more time to be setting up ropes).
The specific crag we’ll be climbing at has not been decided, until then, this is a link to the you yangs on “the crag”, which will be updated with the specific spot once decided.
It'll be a big day out with about a 50 minute drive and an easy walk along most trails to the crags. We will climb for a few hours and aim to be back at the clubrooms by a reasonable time.
You'll need to bring plenty of water, food (lunch and snacks), and potentially some sunscreen. You will also need to have climbing shoes, a harness, and a helmet. Gear can be hired out from the MUMC climbing store on the Tuesday day night before the trip. A $50 cash deposit is required for gear hire.
We will have a trip meeting on the Tuesday beforehand to confirm numbers and gear. If you are unable to attend the meeting you must contact the trip leaders beforehand. Due to leader/participant ratios this trip is limited in terms of numbers, and participants with cars may be prioritised so we can get everyone out there.
The You Yangs is a granite crag and it generally quite slab heavy, so if we suspect it's going to be wet, we might relocate to another crag or head to Urban Climb Blackburn, but we will address that if it comes up. If you have any concerns or questions about the trip, feel free to mention them either on your sign up form, on the website link, or by contacting either of the leaders.
