Come along to the Club Rooms before the Tuesday meeting to hang out and get stuck into some knitting and/or crocheting!

There is a significant body of evidence which shows that engaging in yarn craft improves cognitive function by lowering cortisol levels and reducing stress through repeated movement, and serves to promote mental health, fine motor control, and long term health outcomes.

The repeated hand motions also do wonders for your grip strength and dexterity when climbing!

Plus, you get to make cool stuff for a fraction of the retail price, which is a mad flex. Why spend $200 on an Arcteryx beanie when you can make a higher quality version, complete with bird logo, for maybe $20 worth of yarn?

And if you have never knitted before, don't let that be a barrier! You don't have to have learnt how to knit from childhood in order to engage in yarn crafts, and the craft is high reward with very low commitment (you can undo it all and start again if you make a mistake with no wastage). There are a ton of us who will be there who are more than happy to teach you.

"But Liam," I hear you say, "I spent all my money on a Grigri and a rope so I can't afford yarn and needles!" Fear not, my friend, we have tons of surplus yarn and plenty of spare needles, so we have you covered.

The Club Rooms has a kettle and a selection of teas, plus we will have some snacks available.

Hope to see you there! :)
