BSAR’s Annual Training weekend is being conducted in conjunction with the Durdidwarrah Rogaine held by the Victorian Rogaining Association in the Brisbane Ranges National Park.

BSAR will participate in the 6 hour rogaine on Saturday followed by training exercises and search scenarios on Sunday, joined by Victoria Police Search and Rescue Squad Officers.

Training will provide members (and prospective members) with practice on map skills and navigation technique and updated information on callout processes and use of communications and GPS equipment.

Registrations for the training close Sunday, 7th June 2026.

Transport

A bus will be provided by Victoria Police. Attendees are required to use the police bus unless an exemption has been approved by the Training Organiser.

Pickup locations:

Departing Saturday 13th June 2026:

  • 6:00am – Ringwood Police Station
  • 6:15am – BSAR Gear Store (National Storage, 55 Lexton Road, Box Hill North) Please note there is no parking at this location
  • 6:45am – Northcote Police Station at 7.00am

Returning Sunday 14th June 2026:

  • Around 5:30pm – Northcote Police Station
  • Around 6:00pm – BSAR Gear Store
  • Around 6:15pm – Ringwood Police Station

Accommodation

We will be camping within the Brisbane Ranges National Park.

What to bring

You will need equipment generally as per the BSAR manual (requires login).

  • Warm and waterproof clothing suitable for the forecast conditions, including BSAR clothing that has been issued to you
  • Personal overnight camping and cooking equipment
  • Day pack containing search and safety equipment and rogaine gear
  • Mobile phone plus a power bank
  • Food for the weekend (2 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 breakfast, snacks)
  • Some drinking water is available at the rogaine (Saturday) and the campground has a tank of untreated water
