It’s the start of semester, so you know what that means - it’s time to ignore your studies and come climbing!

The trip is listed as expressions of interests and will open up to sign ups when we get confirmation on the weather. Just note that your position in the expression of interests is irrelevant and spaces will be determined by those who sign up when the trip sign ups open, so keep an eye out for that

This trip post is currently a placeholder until closer to the time when we can have a good look at weather and decide on a specific crag location for the trip. Currently the likely candidates will be Mt Macedon Back walls, You Yangs slab or a bit of cheeky Werribee Gorge Falcons Lookout crack climbing. Details will follow closer to the date.

Here are some links to the potential crag spots we might visit: Mt Macedon Back Wall, The You Yangs, Werribee Gorge Falcons Lookout.

We’ll be trying to leave the clubrooms early, at around 7:00am on the Sunday morning, to get in as much climbing as we can (and give the leaders a bit more time to be setting up ropes).

Depending on the specific location, it’ll be about 40-60 mins drive from the clubrooms. Most of these crags have relatively easy walk ins, around 15 minutes along the trails. We will climb for a few hours and aim to be back at the clubrooms by a reasonable time.

You'll need to bring plenty of water, food (lunch and snacks), and potentially some sunscreen. You will also need to have climbing shoes, a harness, and a helmet. Gear can be hired out from the MUMC climbing store on the Tuesday day night before the trip. A $50 cash deposit is required for gear hire.

We will have a trip meeting on the Tuesday beforehand to confirm numbers and gear. If you are unable to attend the meeting you must contact the trip leaders beforehand. Due to leader/participant ratios this trip is limited in terms of numbers, and participants with cars may be prioritised so we can get everyone out there.

A couple of these crags get pretty miserable and damp during the winters, so we’ll need to wait until we get a better forecast before confirming anything. If we suspect it's going to be wet closer to the date, we might head to Urban Climb Blackburn, but we will address that if it comes up. If you have any concerns or questions about the trip, feel free to mention them either on your sign up form, on the website link, or by contacting either of the leaders.
