Snowshoe up the Epic Trail

Winter star gazing above the tree line should the weather play nicely on the day. Walking in along the last section of the Epic Trail:

Plan is to park at the base of Carters Road and walk up the mountain bike trail, return via same. Daily distances are 15km and 1000m+ of elevation gain on the first day.

There is likely to be enough snow to need snowshoes at the highest elevations which can be hired from the club. Tree cover over the whole trip limits exposure but snow camping and full waterproof equipment will still be necessary for safety. As an intermediate trip prior experience of either snow sports or overnight bushwalking is required.

Transport costs $50 in addition to food and any gear hire.
