Rogaining

Sun 4 Mar 2012 10:00am - 4:00pm

Posted by James C on Wed, 8 Feb 2012
Leaders: James C
Standard: Everyone welcome
Meeting: Tue, 21 Feb 2012, 7:15 pm

Requirements: Sturdy footwear or runners, Warm clothes, Waterproof jacket, Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks (dinner is usually provided), Compass and Bike (If competing in the Cyclogaine only)

Suitable for people of all skill levels is this Metrogaine or Cyclogaine run by the Victoria Rogaining Association. The course is set in Melton just west of Melbourne and should be accessible by public transport if you don't have a car.

If you are new to the club or have never even heard the terms metrogaine, cyclogaine or rogaine that is not a problem. Rogaining is a bush navigation sport that involves route planning and traditionally compasses and map navigation. A metrogaine is a variation of the term to simply mean rogaining in a built up area whereas a cyclogaine is a rogaine on bicycles (often in addition to walking!)

An important note, as for all rogaining trips the meeting is TWO weeks before the trip as signups after the following Wednesday will incur a late fee of $10. Signups are performed through the VRA website.

Full details for the event are available here.

If you have any questions feel free to email or just ask me at the clubrooms some time.
