This is a hike in the Victorian Alps situated about halfway between Mt Feathertop and Falls Creek. We'll be taking in the stunning views while covering about 20 cruisy kilometres over two days.

We plan to head up Friday night and camp at Pretty Valley Pondage (near Falls Creek).  Saturday we hike north-west via Mt Jaithmathang to
a campsite just short of Mt Fainter South. On the Sunday we'll leave our packs at camp and bag the summit, then return south the way we came. If we feel up for it, we'll take a detour via the Alpine Walking Track over Mt Jim (a basalt outcrop, making it a source of magnetic anomolies which will do strange things to your compass). We should be back in Melbourne late Sunday night.

This trip is suited to those who have been on some beginner walks already, and are wanting the challenge of doing a two-day trip. You need to have a good level of general fitness, as there will be some steady ascending and you will be carrying your camping gear and food for Saturday night's camp. We will be limiting numbers to 8 people.

More information is available by contacting either Daniel Kless or Richard Sota, or by coming along to next Tuesday's trip meeting. Cheers :-)
