Leaders: James C
Standard: Everyone welcome
Meeting: Tue, 12 Jun 2012, 7:15 pm

Requirements: Sturdy footwear or runners, Warm clothes, Waterproof jacket, Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks (dinner is provided), Compass and Map bag / contact. (Cash for entry will also be handy if you haven't done that yet). Compasses and contact can be hired / purchased from the VRA on the day if you bring cash.

Suitable for people of all skill levels is this rogaine run by the Victoria Rogaining Association (VRA). The course is set just near Castlemaine, 130km NW of Melbourne at goes from 10:00AM - 4:00PM on both Saturday and Sunday.

If you are new to the club or have never even heard of rogaining that is not a problem, the difficulty of this event makes it completly suitable for beginners. Rogaining is a bush navigation sport that involves route planning and traditionally compass and map navigation. This pdf here provided by the VRA is a great resource for first time rogainers and navigators.

The format of this particular event is a 6 hour rogaine on either the Saturday or Sunday.

As this event is not organised by MUMC there are entry fees, these are $23 if entered before 11:59pm on the 13th of June and $10 extra per adult if entering after this date (late entry). MUMC offers a $10 rebate for all members who participate in rogaines. Signups are performed here on the VRA website. Note the late entry date is one day after the trip meeting, therefore if you would like to form a team at the trip meeting and signup that night / the following day that is possible. I believe the VRA sometimes waive the late fee if you are a new to rogaining.

More information is available about the event here.

If you have any questions about this event or rogaining in general please feel free to contact me at or just have a chat to me sometime at the clubrooms.
