Requirements: Been on a few overnight hikes, can carry heavy backpack for many days, experienced hiker with enthusiasm for walking in high mountains :)

Trip is now full, if you're interested and capable to hike over the long weekend with the requirements stated below, please get in touch with me and we'll see what can be done :)

Hey,

Plan was to do a longer hike in Tassie (South Coast track) but plans have changed and now I would like to walk along the Razorback in the Alpine National Park. Trip will be during the Melbourne Cup weekend in November.

The Razorback ridge is running to the summit of Mt Feathertop, Victoria’s second highest peak, with stunning views of the high country from the summit, the high plains Swindlers Spur and the Razorback.

The Razorback track beings at Diamantina hut, 2.5 km on the Harrietville side of the Hotham Village. It crosses the high ridge linking Mt Hotham and Mt Feathertop. The route is generally above the tree line so there will be plenty of excellent views most of the way if the weather is clear. The final climb to Mt Feathertop is steep but well worth the effort. We'll continue (after Mt Feathertop) along the Diamantina Spur and joining the Machinery Spur track heading back south past Blairs Hut and Dibbins hut and towards Mt Loch. All in all, we'll be walking Saturday, Sunday, Monday and a bit on Tuesday morning before driving back to Melbourne.

As the Razorback ridge is exposed the weather will need to be good for this walk as it's recommended not be crossed in unsettled or bad weather.

Trip will be limited to 10 people for safety and responsible walking reasons.

More trip details and covered km will come shortly ...

Cheers, Ingrid
