Hiking along the Great Ocean Walk

Requirements: Must have been away on overnight walks before and capable to walk with a heavier backpack (around 10-15kg) for a longer distance. There will be a river crossing on Johanna Beach which can be tricky if the tide is high. If you’re not sure of trip level and requirements please speak/email with me beforehand.

Hey hikers,

I’ve picked a good section of the Great Ocean Walk which involves beach walking, koala spotting, river crossing and carrying heavy packs for 2 days. Plan is to walk from Blanket Bay to Johanna Beach, which is around 32km over 2 days.

Saturday hike route: Blanket Bay to Cape Otway Lighthouse (9.6km, easy/medium) – Aire River via Rainbow Falls (10km, medium) total 19.6km

Sunday hike route: Aire River to Johanna Beach via Castle Cove (12.4km, medium) total 12.4km

Group size for the trip is limited to 10 people.  

Car shuffle is required for the trip so we need at least 2 cars for this trip to go ahead.
