Requirements: You will need to be a strong bush walker, prepared for off track navigation. If there is snow, we will explore on XC skis, so ideally you will have skied before.
EDIT: Latest plan is to go to Tali Karng, via the Wellington River.
This wilderness area is hardly visited in Winter, with the road closed at the end of the Tamboritha Road, at Holmes Plain.
Ideally there is snow, and we are able to explore on xc skiis and camp out somewhere.
If there isn't, we could do a hike down to the Wonnangatta River, into lake Tali Karng or around the high planes.
Gear: we will need to take snow camping equipment, I will be optimistic and take skiis. It will be cold. It will be wet. Be prepared.
Vehicles: the road may have a good covering of snow, so ideally any other vehicles are 4WDs with chains that fit. And bring shovels. (I have a 4WD that can take 4 others plus heaps of gear.)
This will not be an easy trip - if you can't hack steep ascents up densely vegetated mountain slopes, stay right where you are on the couch.
I am up for ideas and suggestions.
I have Monday off, so if there are others interested, I would love to make the trip out to Snowy Bluff - imagine 5km of rocky escarpments
