"The Tanglefoot Track, a spectacular walk through the majestic Mountain Ash forest of the Toolangi State forest, has added to the appeal of an area that has been attracting walkers for many years. The track, which delves into fern gullies and cool, temperate rain forests, provides a magical experience for visitors."

"The track winds through Mountain Ash forests, mainly regrowth from the 1939 forest fires. There are many older giants in the gullies, some 200 or more years old."

"The walk is moderately difficult where it descends in to the rainforest gullies. This is an area of very high rainfall, and the track may be waterlogged during periods of heavy rain."

"There are more than 100 different species of birds in the area. You will almost certainly hear or see a lyrebird on the track."

"Slow-growing tree ferns line the gullies, while in Myrtle Gully the cool temperate rainforest is dominated by Myrtle Beech and Blackwood."

This bushwalking trip will start from the car-park labeled: "Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk".

We will then walk a ~12km loop: Myrtle Gully Track to the Tanglefoot Car Park (lunch stop); then return along the Tanglefoot track.

("There are picnic tables, a toilet and barbecues at the Tanglefoot Car Park.")

If everyone is feeling fit and the weather is good, we might extend the walk a bit further along the southern end of the Tanglefoot track, then double back.

This is a repeat trip form me, with the original trip lead by Krissie last year. My log from the (longer loop) last time can be seen here:

Toolangi is 1h 15m drive from Melbourne.

Max 15 people depending on availability of cars and drivers. Only people signed up on this webpage before the meeting on Tuesday will be accepted.

Cheers
Reilly

PS. Please note 6:30pm meeting time before the AGM.
