The Sherbrooke Lyrebird Survey Group are looking for volunteers for winter lyrebird surveys in the Dandenong Ranges (1 hour east of Melbourne) on Saturday June 18th, July 2nd, July 16th. It is an early start (6am), but well worth the effort to experience dawn breaking whilst listening for the song of the lyrebird.

Parks provide breakfast and a warm fire, and there will be a guided walk for anyone interested in trying to see lyrebirds up close. The survey is all finished by about 8am, and if people come on the walk afterwards we usually return to the picnic ground at around 11am.

As it is a very early start on Saturday, another option would be to leave Friday night and camp there ready for the morning which could be fun.

Bring: Torch, watch, pen, compass
