Requirements: Good fitness and some overnight walking experience – the walk up the north west spur is challenging. Gear for potentially cold/wet conditions. This is the mountains and the weather can change very quickly. Includes sturdy boots, full waterproof gear (tops and bottoms), sleeping bag and mat, warm clothes. Much of this can be hired from the club. Full equipment list will be emailed to those who sign up before the trip meeting and available at the trip meeting. Plenty of food! Cash to pay your driver/car owner for fuel and maintenance costs (could be up to $50-60) plus for meals on the way.

A challenging walk up the north-west spur, to stay at the MUMC hut, cook some good food and enjoy Mt Feathertop in early spring.

Leave Friday night and camp in/near Harrietville or leave very early Saturday morning (depending on the group preference). Depart the fish farm in Harrietville around 10-11am; walk up the north west spur with minimal packs as we won’t need tents. Possible summit trip in the afternoon if the weather is good. Watch the sun set and the almost full moon rise – it’s full on the Sunday night.

Sunday morning, dawn summit trip for the very keen, breaky at the hut, walk down the NW spur to the cars. Dinner in Bright or Milawa before heading back down the highway for a Sunday night return to Melbourne.
