Requirements: Gear requirements as above. Common sense above all else.

EDIT: Date now changed to the next weekend. 24th of November

So over a few pints at the pub a weeks back I seem to have set myself the goal of climbing (aid - not free) Ozymandias in Mt Buffalo. Problem is I don't have any experience aid climbing, so I need to train up a little and get a few skills in the area of aid climbing.

There seem to be some interest from a few people in learning a bit more about aid climbing. Therefore I am going to try running this trip as a sort of aid climbing learning/training/skills session. This is intended to be very beginner aid leader friendly trip - because no one on this trip is going to have much experience.

This is list of things we might work on. However it is certainly not limited to this.

  • Efficient aid leading and belaying
  • Seconding and cleaning using ascenders
  • Belay anchor setups
  • Hauling and pulley systems
  • Bivyving down on the wall (might take the club portaledge for a spin)

We are going to need a significant quantity of gear for this. So if you have your own rack it would be useful, also 2x daisy chains each person, the club only has 4x (pretty tired looking) etriers so if you have access to some we'll need them, others things like asenders, pulleys may be in short supply. We'll work out what we need closer to the date

The plan is to head to arapiles for a weekend because there are a lot of options there. The dates are not set in stone and could moved if required. Send me a message/email if you have questions or suggestions.
