Postponed - Water levels have dropped to 150ML/day, last time we were there it was about 6000ML/day.

We'll postpone the theory session until we find another date/location that works.

We're going to have another weekend of paddling at the Goulburn to practice paddling and safety skills on some solid grade 2 rapids. The priority will be allowing our future trip leaders the chance to work on their skills, but there should be enough space to allow for paddlers who are getting towards becoming independent on strong grade 2. This is also suitable for members interested in being a raft guide this season who have experience on whitewater.

If you want to come on this trip you need to make sure your experience is logged in our new trip log sheets and that your skills are noted on the skills checklist. Both of these are in the shed, come and talk to me about them.

The trip involves:

Tuesday Night Theory Session

- COMPULSORY to attend!

- Should go for 1 - 1.5 hrs

- Covers the theory we'll need for the weekend to save time on the river

- This is open to everyone, not just those going on the trip

Saturday is at the Pumpkins and Slalom rapids, accessed via Bluegums caravan park.

Saturday Session 1: Personal river safety

- Briefing

- Practice swimming, water entry and river crossing techniques

- Practice kayak self-rescue

Saturday Session 2: Rescue Basics

- Briefing

- Throw bag rescues

- Entrapment rescue simulation

- Debrief

Camp Saturday night at Rubicon River campsite (for free!), group bbq dinner.

Sunday river trip down from the dam wall, stop at Bluegums to play on the rapid. Lunch at get-out and drive home. Maybe if we're lucky it will have rained and we could do a trip down Big River instead. Expect to be back in the evening.

Get paddling, plenty of time to get a bit more comfortable in the boat before this trip. Contact on
