Leaders: Krissie P
Standard: app/trips.standards.independent climbers; all ability levels
Meeting: Tue, 26 Feb 2013, 7:15 pm

Requirements: To read the description above and do what it says. :-)

It’s time for another trip to Victoria’s prime trad climbing destination. Arapiles is like a climbing heaven. There is something for everyone. Essentially, it’s cool. And fun.

This trip is open to all ability levels. Beginner participation is welcome and encouraged. However, this is an independent trip – i.e. it is up to you to find a climbing partner.

Competent trad leaders:
Please sign up only if you are willing to take out an inexperienced climber. Note that you need to have prior approval to lead beginners – this is a strict requirement for this trip.
If you absolutely insist :-) on joining as part of an advanced team, we might be able to work something out if there are enough car spots.

Beginner/less experienced climbers:
I will do my best to help but I will not be organising leaders for you. Clicking the sign up button does not guarantee you a climbing partner. Please be proactive – approach a trad climber you may already know, have a chat with whoever is staffing the climbing gear store and ask for suggestions. This can be done in advance or at the trip meeting - so don't be put off! :-)
You will need to have been to an indoor climbing gym a few times (and/or on a club top roping trip). Ability to lead belay is always an asset.

The trip will run like most MUMC trips.
We'll be leaving Melbourne on Friday (late afternoon or evening; the drive is about 4.5 hours), likely with a dinner and grocery shopping stop along the way, and returning on Sunday evening. We'll be camping, and food will be organised in car groups.
Equipment – you’ll need climbing gear and car camping gear. Pretty much everything can be hired from the club.
Cost – gear hire, petrol + car maintenance, camp fees

As with any climbing trip, the number of spots will depend on leader and car availability. I may need to give preference to car owners.

Hopefully I haven’t made this description too confusing. :-)
Please email me with any pressing questions (treasurer AT mumc DOT org DOT au), otherwise see you at the trip meeting on February 26.

 Cheers,
Krissie
