Nest Box Weekends are a chance to contribute to nature surveys in the Lurg Hills and a fantastic opportunity to see cute fluffy animals while they're sleeping! The suryeys gather important data regarding the populations of squirrel gliders, phascogales and other small mammals in the remnant vegetation and revegetated sites in the region. The data tells us about what kind of vegetation these creatures require to thrive and helps to inform the revegetation strategy of the Regent Honeyeater Project. If you've ever participated in a planting weekend with the project you should definitely come along to see how your hard work is helping to provide habitat to some of Australia's vulnerable critters.

What you'll be doing: Volunteers will be navigating through bushlands to locate previously installed nest boxes. With a ladder you'll climb up to the box, peek in and count any inhabitants. We might also help with installing new boxes. Other activities include spotlighting by night and bbq picnics.

When: May 14-15, leaving early on Saturday morning and returning in the late evening on Sunday.

Where: We'll be sleeping in Benalla and ventruing into the surrounding area to conduct the surveys. You can bring a tent, or sleep in the scout hall.
