Requirements: Snow camping gear

Escaping from the election by skiing, hopefully somewhere without reception but mountains aren't really conducive to that.

Will be an overnight snow camping trip, probably carrying packs.

Options depending on skill level of people coming, the snow conditions and the weather are:

  • Car camping at JB Plain at Hotham and skiing around the sheltered trails or doing some day touring/telemarking out around Mt Loch, Charlie Derrick hut or even the start of the Razorback.
  • Carrying packs on the Bogong highplains out to Wallaces Hut/Pretty Valley Hut/anywhere on the plateau really.
  • Touring around Mt Stirling to one of the huts; plenty of sheltered and more exposed areas.
  • Mt Bogong; intermediate and advanced downhill terrain with some nice touring around in good weather. requires about a 2 hour walk up Eskdale spur to the hut and then another hour or so ski with daypacks to the top where there is a bit of touring and plenty of downhill.
