Requirements: A bit of bushwalking experience would be good. Also readiness for a fair amount of uphill walking!

Come and make the gruelling (but very rewarding) ascent of Victoria's highest peak! Marvel at the silence and serene beauty of Mount Bogong's rolling hills and lofty summit. This is a true taste of some of the best that Victoria's high country has to offer.

This trip is open to anyone!

Itinerary:

Friday 15th:
Leave the city by car as soon as we can in the evening. Drive to Mountain Creek camp ground (near Mount Beauty) and put up tents for the night.

Saturday 16th:
Rise bright and early and make our ascent of Bogong up 'The Staircase'. Expect five hours of pain (duly rewarded by reaching the summit). From there we can make our way to Cleve Cole hut for the night, and depending on how we're feeling, make a trip to some waterfalls not too far from the hut.

Sunday 17th:
Leave Cleve Cole hut and descent Bogong by the Eskdale spur. Hopefully we can leave Mountain Creek camp ground in the early afternoon, get dinner on the way home, and arrive back in Melbourne at a reasonable hour.

What you will need:

-- Pack (for all your gear, >50L)
-- Good walking shoes/boots
-- Tent
-- Sleeping Bag
-- Sleeping mat
-- Rain jacket
-- Warm clothes & thermals
-- Head torch
-- Food: 2x breakfast, 2x lunch, 1x dinner
-- Miscellaneous: spoon, bowl, sunscreen, etc. etc. etc.

What it will cost:

-- Petrol & maintenance (expect about $50)
-- Food
-- Gear hire (if you don't have your own)
