Requirements: Previous caving experience is expected. See Trip Description.

The plan is to spend about 7 days based at Jenolan in the heart of the Blue mountains and go caving at nearby areas and then some side trips on the way home.

There are also oppotunities for walking and much less likely canyoning nearby however the majority of the trip will be caving with other activities being done on 'days off' if they occur.

Planned activities

Jenolan - Hundreds of caves with everything from big open walk through caves, well decorated caves to more challenging sporty squeesy tubes

Tuglow - 'Over the hill' from Jenolan this is a large cave with active streamway sections containing waterfalls. Laddering or Abseiling will be required.

On the way home either

Yarrangobilly (Snowy Mountains) Large well decorated and cold caves in the snowies.

or

Bungonia (near Goulburn) Caving area with lots of vertical caves many with long pitches, we'll probably stick to the few horizontal caves that don't need rope.

Depending on interest, cars etc it may be possible to join the trip for only part of the trip eg leave early or join for the second portion.

Costs:

Car costs: estimate $190 - $240

Accomodation: Estimate $10/day exact cost will depend on numbers attending.

Gear Hire $10/day if using all club gear $5/day if using own headlamp.

Accomodation:

At Jenolan we stay in the caver's cottage this includes power, kitchen (stove top, microwave, toaster, kettle etc), showers including hot water.

Elsewhere it will be camping with various facilities depending on location.

Standard:

Most of the activities will cater for all skill levels however not all of day trips will be suitable for beginners and trips will increase in difficulty over the course of the trip (particulalry the Jenolan section)

Given length of trip it is expected that participants have some previous caving experience.

While there have been exceptions in the past these have been rare so if your interested and have not caved before come and talk to me and we'll arrange a something eg a daytrip to labertouche.

Rockclimbing skills transfer well to caving however for those who have less caving experience a good level of general fitness is the most important thing to have.

Permit limits the the caves we are expecting to be doing at usually 8- 10 people if the trip ends up larger than this not everyone will be caving everyday. The trip will also be limited in practical terms by cars, gear and the number of leaders/experienced participants.
