Mount Arapiles, ~5 hours drive away from Melbourne, is one of the best cliffs for traditional climbing in the world. There are routes suitable for all abilities with excellent ‘three-star’ climbs beginning from grade 5 through to grade 32.

The number of beginners we can take is dependent on the number of leaders and availability of cars. Please fill out the excel sheet with your experience level and whether or not you have a car.

The plan is to depart Melbourne on Friday at 6pm. Car groups can have dinner together then do grocery shopping for the weekend (3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners and snacks). Expect to arrive at Araps after 11pm and pitch your tent in the dark (bring a head torch). We will be camping at the Pines together with the many other uni groups that will also be there! Camping fees are $5 per tent per night, so bring $15 cash.

We will probably begin with some top-roping on Saturday for beginners to learn the ropes. Sunday and Monday will be multi-pitch days where you will climb routes up to 150m high! Further details to come. We will leave Araps on Monday late afternoon and return to Melbourne around 9pm.

Everyone must have the following items (all can be hired from the club)

  • harness
  • rock shoes
  • belay device
  • helmet
  • tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat
  • stove for cooking

Rope and rack hire costs will be split amongst the group. Cost to be finalised..
