Requirements: Have done a few overnight hikes. Ideally some that involve off track stuff

I want to walk down the Moroka River when it is at a lower flow to scout it out before paddling it hopefully later this year.

This will be a difficult hike. After the first 30 minutes we won't be following a track for potentially another 25 odd kilometres down a steep river valley that is rarely travelled. There are 7 marked waterfalls that we will need to clamber down or around.

Info on the paddle can be found here:  http://www.adventurepro.com.au/paddleaustralia/pa.cgi?action=details&id=moroka#.UyFXDT-Sx8E

As you can see walk is a rather optimistic term. We will bring some rope to lower gear and abseil if needs be - think of it as an introduction to canyoning. Complete with the almost certainly wet feet, clothes and packs.

Walking out halway down won't be a fun option if something goes wrong, as you will have to climb 1000m vertical through dense bush.

If you are interested, speak to me, Mitchell, one Tuesday night or at Intro Trip. Usually I am in the boat shed or building something.
New members are more than welcome, so long as you have done some hiking before.

The trip needs 2 cars (or an enthusiastic mountain biker for the shuttle) and I am inclined to limit it to 6-10 people so that we can travel faster.

We may be able to smash the descent out in a day and a bit. If we do that then there are plenty of great trips around the area - Snowy Bluff, Lake Tali Karng, Neilson crag etc

Gear: We will travel very light, share a tarp to sleep under, share stoves etc. I suggest that on your feet you wear grippy and sturdy runners or rockclimbing approach shoes.
