Requirements: Good fitness, it is steep. Should have done some hiking before, talk to me if you haven't done an overnight hike.

A two day hike up Mt Stirling and over to Mt Butter in the Alpine National Park.

Mt Stirling is a stunning area, when the snow comes it is used as a cross-country skiing area, me might get a dusting of snow but it will be a hikig trip. We will leave from Mirimba, walk up rivr spur and camp on the summit of Mt stirling. the next day the plan is to walk over Corn Hill to Mt Buller and down the Klingsporn Track back to Mirimba.

Plan: Leave Friday night from Melbourne, sleep Friday night in Mansfield (a 2.5hr drive), drive up to Mirimba, then hike up to the summit via the steep River Spur track, camp the night on the summit if the weather permits, walk acorss to Corn hill and then to Mount Buller, then down the Klingsborn track, back to Mirimba, driving back to Melbourne Sunday afternoon/evening.

The hike it not too difficult, though steep and good fittness is needed, it is open to all who have done some hiking before (talk to me if you haven’t done an overnight hike yet). The trip will probably be capped at 12 people, depending on availiable cars.

It will be cold, probably below zero during the night, and perhaps some snow, so you will need appropriate gear and clothing, a decent sleeping bag and cold and wet weather clothing. You will need to carry food for the two days, and about 2L of water, there are water tanks and streams at a few of the shelters near the summit.
