The Sherbrooke Lyrebird Study Group are currently undertaking the annual lyrebird survey in the Dandenongs, and there is one event left this year: Saturday, July 19.

The group meet at 5.45 am (yes, AM) in Sherbrooke forest in the Dandenongs, and spend a few hours surveying the birds. Then Parks Victoria staff treat everyone to a delicious breakfast.
Dress warmly and bring: compass, watch, torch, pencil.

As usual, we need a willing driver to make this happen!

Please get in touch with me by email asap if interested - I'll see if I can arrange a car pool with the organisers.

cheers

About lyrebirds, from the other trip description:
Lyrebirds are the singers in the forest, known for their long, beautiful songs and ability to mimic almost any sound. We often hear them when on day trips in the forests around Melbourne, and we often see the scratched spots where they forage. Sometimes, we see them. But not very often. And it's worth it - they are beautiful birds, particularly the males (so it is in the bird kingdom...).
