(Please note these are rough dates)

I will go caving in Jenolan during easter but I would like to hike around the area before that. What is better than hiking the historic Six Foot Track from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves! It's a relatively straight forward hike lasting about 44km and three days long ( or two day, can be done in a done if you are really really ambitious or training for the Six Foot Maraton)

I have not done this hike before so I prefer to take on people who have had overnight hiking experience with a full pack ( including a tent, food, cooking essentials and sleeping arranges) before. The ideal group will be between 4-6 people but more or less will also be fine. Here's the website for Six Foot Track http://www.sixfoottrack.com/.

Participants will need to organise own transport but this can be discussed. It might be a little tricky but it shouldn't be too much trouble as there are tour buses/ trains going to Katoomba.

So here's my plan:

Day 1

Rendezvous in Katoomba on the day of the hike. The hike starts at Explorer's Tree about 3km from the Katoomba Station (direct train from Sydney). We will follow the track walking downhill for most of the part before reaching Cox River Campground. We can stay here for the first night.

Distance: 15.5 km

Day 2

Walk most of the way with gradual hills to the open forest in the Black Range Camping Ground. Stay for the night.

Distance: 21 km

Day 3

Complete the hike with gentle down hill to spectacular Jenolan Caves (http://www.jenolancaves.org.au/).

The whole hike officially ends and people can choose to stay around and explore the area a little bit more or heading back to Katoomba with Trolley Tours (http://www.trolleytours.com.au/jenolan-caves-tours)

Distance: 8.5 km.
