Requirements: Open to anyone however please be aware that technically we are climbing a mountain (more like a large hill), so some level of fitness, or at least mental stamina is required.

This trip was arranged for February but has been postponed to March.

Grade: Easy/ Moderate

Based on the walk as set out in “Daywalks Around Victoria” by Glenn Tempest, this walk will start near Olinda. We will visit Olinda Falls and Mt Dandenong Arboretum before rising to 633 meters (we start at about 375 meters above sea level, so it’s only a 250-ish meter rise) to check out the views from Mt Dandenong and Burkes Lookout. Before arriving back to Olinda we head through a fern-filled gully.

The number of cars we have will determine how long the walk will be. If we have only one car, it will be a 15.6km circuit which will take about 5 hours (including stops). If we have at least 2 cars, I plan on doing a car shuffle to cut out a few km’s (and the final steepest hill) to make it more beginner friendly. This would make the walk about 13km long and take about 4.5 hours (including stops).

What to bring: Lunch and snacks, at least 2 litres of water (important), good walking shoes raincoat

Leave from the clubrooms at 9am.
