Requirements: This trip will require a high level of fitness to climb up and down hills with a pack. Previous overnight hiking is essential.

We are planning an exciting 4 day hike over Easter. The Viking Circuit. The trip will involve spectacular views, steep hills, off track navigation, blackberry bush-bashing and plenty of type 1 and 2 fun, all in all it is a true adventure and not for the faint hearted.

The Viking Circuit is in the Alpine National Park north east of Melbourne. The area is famous for the inspiration to the landforms in Tomorrow When The War Began. With some lovelly sounding places such as The Crosscut Saw, Mt Buggary, Devils Staircase, The Razor and The Terrible Hollow.

To participate you will need to have been on at least one overnight hike with a very good level of fitness and be prepared to carry a heavy pack up and down hills. The walk is considered hard, due to the terrain, the lack of walking tracks in some areas and the scarcity of water (we will likely have to carry more than a day's water on a few occasions), as well as long days.

Trip size for safety and efficiency will limited to 8, however even if more then 8 sign up below you can still sign up to register interest incase someone pulls out and if we have too much interest I could organise another hike or split into smaller groups and walk in opposite directions. The club has all the gear you need except good shoes and warm (Woolen, down, thermals) clothes. Full gear list will be provided.

Come and talk to me at a Tuesday meeting or email me bushwalk at mumc.org.au.
