Rockclimbing
Rockclimbing is one of the oldest and most popular adventure sports. Victoria is home to lots of great climbing at Mt. Buffalo and in the Grampians and especially at Mt. Arapiles, known as the "greatest crag in the world."
Climbing in the club is highly active with trips almost every weekend throughout the year. Whether you are an experienced climber looking for a broader community of enthusiasts, an intermediate needing some guidance to consolidate your skills or a beginner looking to try out an exciting new activity, the club has the people and equipment to get you climbing and keep you exploring the vertical world.

There are a series of beginner and intermediate trips at a range of cliffs from O-Week onwards, including the enormous climbing party over the Easter weekend at Mt. Arapiles. These trips are particularly designed to introduce people to Rockclimbing as an activity and to begin to develop the skill and experience of interested members; however, more experienced climbers are encouraged to attend and start climbing with us—just introduce yourself to the Rockclimbing Convenor or trip leader at the Clubrooms. After Easter the balance of trips shifts to intermediate and advanced to further develop the skills and competence of active new members and existing climbers. A lot of the clubs learn to lead-climb instruction is done in this period.

Weekend club trips visit a range of crags throughout the Grampians as well as Mt. Arapiles or Mt. Buffalo, while day trips occur to the small crags scattered around Melbourne. In the longer University breaks trips go to major interstate areas including Moonarie, Nowra and the Blue Mountains. The club also organises occasional coaching weekends, working on aspects such as redpointing or at your limit gear climbing, for experienced climbers.
Harnesses, rock-shoes, ropes, racks of nuts, cams and hexes and helmets are all available for hire at nominal rates for club trips. The club also has aiding equipment, oversize cams, a portaledge and alpine gear to help experienced, active members to extend their horizons.
