Feathertop via MUMC hut

Often advertised as an easy day walk Mt Feathertop is a completely different adventure with snow. To extend the fun the plan is to use the steeper Northwest Spur track and camp overnight around the MUMC hut.

Including the isolated and exposed summit (weather permitting) it could be up to 13km of walking in a day with 1500m of elevation change which sounds easy, until you're actually doing it, in the snow. Due to the difficulty and lack of trail markings previous overnight bushwalking experience and appropriate clothing is required for all participants.

Transport costs for the 4 hour drive out to Harrietville are likely $60 per person. Specialty equipment can be hired from the club rooms on the Tuesday meeting (hire rates here) as needed at additional cost. Note that separate deposits are required for the bushwalking and snow equipment stores.
