Hi OXOs old and new :-)

The Conservation sector has always been quietly but persistenlty active in the club - we've helped with such varied conservation efforts as tree planting, grass tree monitoring, track maintenance and improvement, threatened species monitoring, wildlife surveys and more.
MUMC has longstanding relationships with a number of conservation organisations, for example the Victorian National Parks Association, the Regent Honeyeater Project and SPRATS in Tasmania.

Want to get involved?

In 2014, the club will again be active in a variety of conservation activities.

Coming up:
Nestbox Monitoring in Benalla with the Regent Honeyeater Project
trip dates: March 14&15, April 5&6, May 3&4

Nature Watch (VNPA): Caught on Camera - we'll be learning to set up motion sensing cameras to help with wildlife monitoring in Wombat State Forest.
trip dates: March 15, April 5, April 26, May 17, June 7, June 28

There will be more trips over the semester. In autumn, we'll be returning to Benalla for several nextbox monitoring weekends with the Regent Honeyeater Project (trip dates and info coming soon). Other plans involve guest speaker nights and combined sport trips - stay tuned for more info.

There will be opportunities to get involved with leading and organising trips. I'm also looking for some help with creating a Conservation info board at the clubrooms - submission of pictures, brief trip reports from conservation trips and hands-on help with making the board are more than welcome.

Catch me during one of the Tuesday meetings for a chat about anything conservation.
You can also email me at conservation AT mumc DOT org DOT au with any questions or comments, or information about conservation activities that you've come across elsewhere. Suggestions for conservation activities which the club could get involved in or develop are more than welcome.

See you out in the field!

Krissie
MUMC Conservation Officer
