Suitable for people of all skill levels is this Metrogaine or Cyclogaine run by the Victoria Rogaining Association. The course is set in Melton just west of Melbourne and should be accessible by public transport if you don't have a car.

A trip to visit the club's hut on Mt Feathertop and do some maintenance. Come for the weekend, or long weekend if you have Monday off. It's a great beginner walk, in a very scenic part of the Victorian Alps.
